What is the difference between an open SIG and a professional SIG?

An open SIG is an opportunity to join in and contribute to a special interest group that relates to your interest, and these groups are open to anyone to join whether you’re just mildly curious or seriously interested in learning more.

Professional SIGs are usually reserved for professionals with particular interests looking to network and discuss with other like-minded professionals.

Entry to a professional group requires sending a request that is then validated and approved within usually a 72-hour window.
